Just when we thought that owning real estate couldn’t be more profitable, it becomes an even bigger investment option for those lucky enough to own and purchase new properties. Short-term rental options via Airbnb and other marketplaces have added even more profitability on investment properties and it’s easier than ever to earn money through your properties.
This new channel of income, combined with the overall value that property has had over the last few years means that it’s a great value for your time and money.
That’s why everyone is talking about value so much when it comes to their properties. People are extremely cognizant of how each decision will look in the eye of a potential buyer and what each change might do to improve their home value, decrease it, or maybe not do anything at all.
One topic we were curious about was landscaping. Does it do anything for the long-term value of your home or is it something that’s better left undone? Here’s what we found out when we put the question to experts:
(1) “In a competitive market, landscaping can help you stand out.”
While landscaping might not drastically improve the value of your home, it can make a difference said one expert.
Chris Estes of Top Notch Homes: “Today’s world of real estate is as competitive as it’s ever been and, in a competitive market, landscaping can help you stand out. It might give you an edge when compared to another property and could even be the difference between selling your property and not. So, while I can’t specifically say it will add value, I do think it’s worth considering and can even provide other benefits for you.”
(2) “Everything plays a part (in real estate).”
I was really interested to get the perspective of an experienced real estate agent and their overall thoughts on how landscaping played a part in the value of a property.
John Gluch of The Gluch Group: “While the status of the market does play a big part in the value of a home, it’s all subjective in the end. What does the value of your home mean to the perfect potential buyer? That’s the question you’re really asking and, when it comes to what contributes to that value, everything plays a part biographyer. You must consider everything, including landscaping because potential buyers will consider everything, and real estate agents will also consider everything as they market and price your property.”
(3) “Landscaping is a big part of a first impression.”
It’s true that some people value the exterior of a home and landscaping more than others. Some people even make a living by working and improving the landscaping for others, like our next expert, who talks about the importance of a well-manicured lawn.
Johannes Hock of Artificial Grass Pros: “When someone views a property, the landscaping is a big part of a first impression. And first impressions are everything!
Homeowners who put the time and money into their landscaping understand the value it provides and will benefit from it sooner than later. Not only can it help get your home noticed sooner by potential buyers, but it can also increase the number of people who are interested in your home, which can push the price up as buyers compete for it.”
In the end, I think we’ve seen the value that landscaping provides for your home these days because of what these three experts have said. It will make your home more appealing to buyers and can improve its value for a number of different reasons.
Impressive landscaping is a Win-Win for all sides!
